Nomads eye international friendlies

Mighty Wanderers have announced plans to play at least one international friendly match ahead of their participation in Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup.

Wanderers’ chief executive officer Panganeni Ndovi made the revelations ahead the draw to be held tomorrow.

The preliminary first legs of the elite African club championship will be played between September 19 and 21 while the second legs are set for October 24 to 26.

However, Ndovi said Wanderers will decide which clubs to play against in the friendlies after CAF conducts the draw.

“We are eager to have at least an international friendly match that will help us to be in perfect shape ahead of the Confederation Cup., he said.

Ndovi said the international friendly will only be played once they have space during the TNM Super League break.

“As you know, we might as well be fully engaged during the local league’s break with some domestic cup competitions such as FDH Bank Cup and Castel Challenge Cup. Therefore, we will see how best to manage these but international friendlies are very important,” he said.

Meanwhile, TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers are mum on preparations for the CAF Champions League.

Football analyst Parry Chinyama said Wanderers and Silver should not make a mistake of not playing international friendlies.

He said: “It is of paramount importance for them to arrange international friendly matches so that their players should adapt both mentally and physically.”
